The conversation around Artificial General Intelligence has become louder than the reality of Artificial Intelligence itself. Business leaders are being pulled into debates about AGI, even though most organisations are still operating at the level of narrow AI.
Systems like ChatGPT represent the current state of AI. They are highly capable, but fundamentally constrained. These systems operate within defined boundaries. They can generate text, analyse data, and assist with decision-making, but they cannot transfer understanding across unrelated domains. Their intelligence is conditional on training data, prompts, and context. Outside that scope, they fail quietly or unpredictably.
AGI, on the other hand, represents a completely different class of system. It is not an incremental improvement. It is a categorical shift. An AGI system would be capable of learning new tasks without explicit retraining, reasoning across domains, and adapting to unfamiliar environments with minimal input.
In theory, it would match or approach human cognitive flexibility, which means it could move from financial analysis to supply chain optimization to creative problem-solving without redesigning the model for each use case.

The gap between these two is not just technical. It is architectural. Current AI systems depend on large-scale data ingestion, supervised or reinforcement learning, and significant computational infrastructure. AGI would require systems that can generalize from limited data, build internal representations of the world, and continuously update their understanding through interaction. That level of adaptability does not exist in production systems today.
This distinction matters because the market is already pricing in expectations of AGI while most businesses have not fully extracted value from narrow AI. The global AI economy is already worth hundreds of billions, driven entirely by task-specific systems. These systems are improving productivity, automating workflows, and augmenting decision-making in measurable ways. The returns are real, but they come from precision, not general intelligence.
AGI, if achieved, would reshape labor markets far more aggressively. It would not just automate repetitive work. It would begin to automate complex, multi-step cognitive roles that currently require human judgment. This includes areas like strategy, research, and operations management. That is why the regulatory conversation is shifting from data privacy and bias toward alignment, control, and systemic risk.
From a computing perspective, the jump is equally significant. Today’s AI already depends on massive data centers and specialized chips. AGI would likely require an order of magnitude increase in infrastructure, both in terms of compute and energy. This introduces constraints that are not just technical but economic and geopolitical.
In my view, the most important takeaway is this. The difference between AI and AGI is not a timeline question. It is a capability boundary. AI helps you execute known tasks better. AGI, if it arrives, will redefine what tasks exist in the first place.
Most companies are still underutilizing AI at the execution layer. They are focused on tools rather than systems, and on efficiency rather than decision advantage. The real opportunity today is not preparing for AGI. It is building workflows, data systems, and operational models that can fully leverage narrow AI.
How AI Companies Are Quietly Becoming the World’s Cybersecurity Gatekeepers
For years, cybersecurity was a fragmented industry. Vendors built tools, enterprises patched vulnerabilities, and attackers stayed one step ahead. That model is breaking, and AI companies are now sitting at the center of a new power structure.
When Anthropic introduced Project Glasswing, it did not look like a typical product launch. It looked like coordination. The initiative brought together players like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, and NVIDIA into a single security layer powered by an unreleased model, Claude Mythos Preview. That model is the real story.
Claude Mythos Preview is not just another incremental upgrade. It has demonstrated the ability to autonomously identify and even exploit vulnerabilities that have remained hidden for decades across operating systems and browsers. This changes the structure of cybersecurity entirely.

Traditionally, security knowledge was distributed. Now, it is becoming centralized inside a few frontier models. For the last decade, AI has lived behind screens. It analyzed, predicted, generated, and advised. Now it is starting to act.
What we are seeing with physical AI is not an incremental upgrade in robotics. It is a structural shift in how machines interact with the real world. Instead of executing fixed instructions, systems are beginning to perceive environments, reason through uncertainty, and take actions that adapt in real time.
According to the Capgemini Research Institute, 67% of executives already consider physical AI a game changer. Nearly 79% of organizations are actively experimenting or deploying it. That is not early-stage curiosity. That is coordinated movement toward a new operating model.
The reason is simple. Traditional automation breaks the moment reality becomes unpredictable. A warehouse robot can follow a path, but it struggles when layouts change. A factory system can repeat tasks, but it fails when inputs vary. Physical AI closes that gap. It enables machines to generalize across tasks and environments instead of being locked into scripts.

This is where the real transformation begins.
Labor shortages are accelerating adoption, with 74% of executives citing it as a primary driver. However, the more interesting signal is that 60 percent believe physical AI will unlock use cases that were previously impractical. This is not about doing the same work faster. It is about doing work that was not economically or operationally viable before.
Think about supply chains that self-adjust in real time, retail environments where robots assist dynamically based on footfall patterns, or field operations where machines collaborate with humans in unpredictable conditions. These are not distant scenarios. They are already being tested.
But there is a constraint that most companies are underestimating.
Physical AI is only as reliable as the data it operates on. When machines are acting in the real world, errors are not just analytical. They are operational. A misclassification is no longer a bad dashboard insight. It becomes a failed action.
