SK Telecom: Plans to introduce multimodal capabilities (processing text, images, voice, and video) in the project's second phase. Its A.X K1 model, with 519 billion parameters, is currently the largest domestically-developed AI model.
LG AI Research: The initial evaluation leader will focus on developing industrial AI models for sectors like power generation, chemicals, and biotechnology, aiming to build a comprehensive AI ecosystem.
AI Startup Upstage: Aims to scale its model from 100 billion to 300 billion parameters and bolster its team by recruiting prominent international AI scholars.

However, the project's momentum is now in question. After controversy over the use of foreign technology led the government to narrow the field from five to three teams, it announced a revival round to select one additional participant.
Notably, eliminated heavyweights like Naver Cloud and NC AI, as well as previously excluded Kakao, have all declined to reapply. Naver Cloud stated it is "not considering a reapplication," while NC AI said it would focus on its own industry-specific AI strategy.
